Getting out of the car in front of our restaurant, I do my best to ignore the fact that Isabella is with me. I’m furious with her, two weeks of anger stored inside of me. I’ve been channeling it into working hard to impress my father, but if she’s telling the truth and Sandro is the spy, I might let myself use him as an outlet.

I throw my car keys to the valet and head inside, Isabella trailing behind. The restaurant is fairly empty. It’s just after lunch, so the rush is over and I can see everyone inside. Sandro isn’t here.

Turning around, I scowl at Isabella, annoyed that I fell for another one of her tricks. “He isn’t here.”

“He is,” she insists, the color rises in her cheeks. She goes to the hostess. “Hello, is Sandro here? Antonio is looking for him.”

“He’s in the private dining room,” she tells Isabella. “He’s meeting with Paolo Bianchi.”

I step forward, glaring at the hostess. “Why is he in the private dining room?”

She shrinks back. “He told us that it was a business meeting,” she answers fearfully, “and Siciliano business meetings are always in the private dining room.”

Finding out that Sandro is using my family’s private room for his own business finally makes the situation real. The private dining room is for my family and not just anyone who works with us can use it as they please. My father, myself, and my brothers are the only ones who should be using that room. Sandro, the newest member of our kitchen staff, is not authorized.

I turn toward Isabella, expecting her to look smug at the fact she was proven right, but she just looks worried. I can read her face well and I see she cares more about making sure that I’m okay than she does about her victory. It makes me want to open up again, but I push that desire aside and hurry toward the private dining room.

I try to hold on to my skepticism and keep Isabella out of my head. She lied to me about Philipe and that is incredibly hard to forgive. Still, I have to admit, her finding out about another mole and telling me is respectable. If she is telling the truth, I may be open to another conversation.

It’s not lost on me that the Bianchis recommended both Philipe and Sandro. They really want their people inside our organizations. It’s a small blessing that Philipe ended up being loyal to Isabella and not the Bianchis. Apparently, Sandro is entirely loyal to his original employer.

Isabella trusted Philipe for years, but I still want to have him looked into. He is in a very important position in both organizations. I don’t want to risk anything. I’ve been burned too many times now.

Reaching the private room, I reach a hand out to open the door.

Isabella grabs my arm before I can.

I glance down at her, confused and annoyed.

“Take him to the back room before you do anything,” she says quietly, raising an eyebrow.
